So what can you do to prepare for your tattoo appointment? Read this blog to find out!

Get plenty of rest: Make sure you are well-rested before your tattoo appointment, as your body will be better prepared to handle the procedure.

Eat well: Eating a healthy, balanced meal before your tattoo can help give your body the energy it needs to heal.

Wear comfortable clothes: Wear clothes that are easy to move in and that allow easy access to the area being tattooed.

Avoid alcohol, drugs, and certain medications: Alcohol and drugs can thin your blood, which can make you more prone to bleeding and can also interfere with the healing process. Additionally, certain medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, blood thinners, and others should be avoided before getting a tattoo, as they can also affect bleeding and healing.

Get your skin tattoo ready!: It’s important to have healthy skin before getting a tattoo. Keep skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water and regularly moisturising in the weeks leading up to your tattoo appointment. Protect your skin from sun exposure (sunburnt skin cannot be tattooed over) and avoid self-tan products for 2-4 weeks before your appointment.

Can I use numbing cream?: Tattoo numbing creams are not always a suitable option, it is important to speak with your tattoo artist at Paradise Tattoo Studio and follow their advice and recommendations. Numbing creams can interfere with the tattooing process and potentially compromise your healed results. Additionally, some ingredients in numbing creams may lead to potential complications or allergic reactions. It’s very important to trust in your artist’s expertise, and if you do decide to go ahead and apply numbing cream prior to your appointment, you will not be able to go ahead with your tattoo appointment.

What is the aftercare for a tattoo?

Your artist will go through the tattoo aftercare advice in detail with you once your tattoo is complete, you will also be provided with a written copy from us via email after your tattoo appointment.

There are a few things to keep in mind whilst your tattoo is healing when planning your tattoo at Paradise Tattoo Studio in Cheltenham:

  • Swimming, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms ect must be avoided during the initial healing cycle of your tattoo. This is usually between 7-14 days.
  • Avoid heavy exercise for the 3-7 days after your tattoo.
  • Avoid sun exposure, and dirty dusty environments whilst your tattoo is healing.
  • Keep your tattoo clean and dry during the healing process, and ensure your clothing, towels and bedding are clean.

And most importantly, communicate with your artist & studio: We’re more than happy to answer any questions you might have about the tattooing process, whether it’s your first tattoo, or you’ve lost count! Our experienced artists and studio team are available to support you, so don’t hesitate to get in touch.
